What drew you to the fitness/training field?
I was drawn to the fitness field because there was so much I felt people didn’t know about fitness and how to keep themselves healthy. I’ve been an athlete my whole life and I wanted to continue to be healthy and help others learn about the right way to do the same.
What is the most fulfilling part of your job?
The most fulfilling part of my job is the success of my clients. It sounds cliché, but when a client can finally do something they’ve been really struggling with and working hard at, it’s such a good feeling knowing that you helped them get there. Being a trainer specialist is so much more than just giving people a hard workout, it’s about helping people change their lives for the better.
How do you motivate someone during a workout?
Motivation is something that changes from person to person. You can never motivate two different people the same way, but I like to try and find something that maybe they can improve upon and correct that, but then follow it up by really complimenting something that they are doing well. Knowing you’re doing something well motivates you to improve on things you’re not as good at and want a compliment for that as well.
What are some qualities of your personal ideal client?
It’s hard to say what the ideal personal client would be because I have so many great clients and not one of them is like the other. Every client has qualities that I enjoy working with, but it makes it most enjoyable when a client is willing to work hard and try new things and never gives up. You want a client who knows what their goals are and is willing to put in the time and effort it takes to achieve them.
What is one client success story you will always remember?
A client success story I will always remember is a client I still work with, but it was her goal for years to be able to make it down to the floor and back up without any assistance. So, we worked hard on strengthening her core and her legs and all the individual muscles it would take to help her do it. Then, one day we decided to try it…and ever since that day, the exercises she used to do on a table, she has been doing on the floor and then getting up on her own, always ready for more.
